Massillon Rapper Gives back to Boys & Girls Club

Where Cyrus Harper comes from, family takes care of family. And the way he sees it, this whole town is his family.

Tuesday evening, Harper and his friends loaded dozens of turkeys into the backs of their vehicles and took them to the Boys and Girls Club for children whose families need a little extra help this holiday season.

“I grew up there,” Harper said, “I came from that environment. I wanted to give back to the place that I came from.”

Harper, a 2004 graduate of Washington High School, calls the Boys and Girls Club a part of his extended family. Growing up in Massillon, the club and the community supported him and his family when they needed it most. Now, it’s his turn to give back to the people who supported his biggest dreams. And what better time to do that than at Thanksgiving.

“Thanksgiving is important because it’s about family,” Harper said. “It’s important for a family to come together as one.”

Some families in Massillon won’t get that chance because they can’t afford the turkey and all its trimmings.

To make sure that every member of his extended Boys and Girls Club family got to celebrate a happy Thanksgiving, Harper collected donations of money and canned goods. The money was used to buy turkeys which, along with the canned goods, were donated to the Boys and Girls Club on Tuesday.

“Any time you can use your talent or anything that you have to make a change, that’s good,” Harper said. “It starts with a thought. I am a living testament that if you have a thought and the drive to help people you can make a difference.”

Harper, who raps as artist Cy-Harp, held a special benefit concert with fellow artists Da Kreek. The money from the show went toward the purchase of the Thanksgiving turkeys.

“I didn’t care if I helped one person or 50,” Harper said. “It’s the thought that matters.”

In the end, Harper and his friends were able to help 91 families.

“Every year, just as all over town, someone is looking for a turkey or a meal,” Massillon Boys and Girls Club Associate Executive Director Steve Pedro said. “It sounds like a small gesture, giving someone a turkey, but for the family that gets it, that is Thanksgiving dinner.

“I am proud of him,” Pedro added. “He genuinely wants to help people. … On Thanksgiving Day, there will be a lot of smiling faces because of what he has done.”

Harper said he didn’t think twice about making that kind of difference in his community. The way he sees it, he’s just helping his family – a big, extended family he will call his own for a very long time.

“The Boys and Girls Club,” Harper said, “they gave me a membership that says ‘lifetime.’”

We Got Flow (Youngstown Re-Cap)

Once again the We Got Flow Tour SOLD OUT!!! This time the sell out was in Youngstown, Oh! Barleys to be exact... We told everyone not to miss out on this! Sorry if you did. We had great music from the top artists in the World, Live Band, Drink Specials, and everything you would imagine!

Nobody would deny Da Kreek's talent! Unless your a bonafide hater! We dont listen to people like you anyways. They brought out the live band and went crazy! It looks like a commercial for Red Bull or something with all the energy they have on stage! Its Crazy!!!

All i can say is check out CyHarp.com

We Famous really rocked the stage! They had a great fan base who went hard to all their music! Check these dudes out mayne!!!!!!!!!!!!

She did what everyone expected she would do! Destroyed the stage in the melodic way! Tiarrah's vocals mixed with the content of the material was a perfect match!

"I got J's on my feet!!!" Cannot get that hook out of my head! I'm not trying to either! Swagga City came out from Canton and really put the city on their backs in a great way!

Star Lyfe always bring a mixture of a lot! They had the stage rocking, the crowd screaming Fam Boys, and Dj Chip Banks doing perfect cuts... They're serious

Reason Academy always, i mean always rocks the stage! They do absolutely everything on a professional level! Check them out... It will not be hard to do, these guys grind.

J Wolka adjusts so fast that its crazy! He went straight form crowd to stage, to freestyle over live band, to his performance, to excellent networking! This is a strong correlation to those who make it! He def went hard on stage by the way...

F Up is crazyyyyyyyyyyy! These guys go soooooooooooo hard on stage it is something you must see. They have to shower immediately afterwards. Anything they had before the stage is left on that stage! We Got Flow had to be very cautious about who went on after these boys! Stay on the look out for FUp

Candice always brings the tears out! Its crazy because this is generally hard core hip hop with lyrics. The hardest guys in the world (according to themselves) are tearing up by the voice! She's very very talented!

Caine displayed why he's a headliner! His flows are CRAZYYYYYYYYY! Word play is direct as ever, mixed with being extremely honest. If you want to hear fabrication, DO NOT LISTEN TO CAINE! If you want great music... Your looking at that guy above!

Black Casper's energy is just unmatched. You can tell he really loves to perform!

Big J always goes hard! Came all the way down from Toledo! Believe us when we tell you he's a great representation of being real. Check him out for sure!

One of the most complete groups in Ohio! Thats all that needs to be said! No flaws... Great flow, great stage presence, and great professionalism
